Alltime, a Nordic leader in maintaining built environments, launches a new digital remote monitoring service for maritime navigation aids.

The service enables remote monitoring of maritime safety devices, such as buoys, for both their condition and location. Based on real-time data, malfunctions or damages can be addressed quickly and efficiently. Digital remote monitoring of navigation aids also helps reduce CO₂ emissions from service operations, as fewer on-site manual inspections are required using vessels.

Remote monitoring will first be deployed in Espoo, following the City of Espoo’s procurement decision to select Alltime Suomi as its partner for the digitalisation, maintenance, and upkeep of sea marks on its boat routes. Alltime will digitalise and assume maintenance responsibility for approximately 80 maritime safety devices in Espoo. The service will soon be available to other waterway maintenance customers across Finland.

“I’m excited that we’re now bringing digitalisation forward in waterway maintenance. We maintain around 12,000 maritime safety devices in Finland, and by digitalising their monitoring, our clients will gain access to real-time data, along with more environmentally friendly and efficient service. We thank the City of Espoo for leading the way with us. This is the future of waterway maintenance,” says Antti Sappinen, Business Director, Infrastructure maintenance on waterways, Alltime Suomi.

Alltime Suomi is the market leader in waterway maintenance, responsible for over 60% of maritime safety devices on Finland’s sea and inland waterways. “This is a concrete example of how new technologies, robotics, and AI are rapidly advancing across all areas of maintenance – from cleaning and property services to infrastructure maintenance and waterways as in this case. With new technologies, we can create new services and provide real-time transparency for customers and users alike. We are strongly investing in leveraging technology across all areas of our operations,” says Juha Murtopuro, CEO, Alltime Group.
