Infrastructure maintenance

In addition to buildings and properties, we service public built environments that are critical to our society and wellbeing. City streets, recreational areas and waterways need proper care to ensure a safe and smooth everyday—part of the work overlapping with outdoor property maintenance services, again providing operational synergies.

Our infrastructure maintenance services consist mostly of general maintenance contracts to cities, municipalities, the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency and other public customers. Contracts are fixed-term and typically last 3-5 years, which hedges market environment risks by providing stability when customers are facing price pressure.

Infrastructure maintenance on land

More and more cities are outsourcing their outdoor maintenance operations to specialised partners such as Alltime. We have experience of transferring in-house operations, as in for example Rovaniemi, and continuing already outsourced operations. As general contracts are always public tenders, our long expertise in resource planning and operational excellence are critical in ensuring profitability.

Our land-based infrastructure services have clear synergies with seasonal outdoor property maintenance, sharing many of the same tasks, which can also be performed partly by the same people and equipment. These include:

  • Heavy-duty snow plowing, gritting, salting and other winter street maintenance
  • Clearing streets from gritting sand in the spring and leaves in the fall
  • Green area maintenance and landscaping services in public parks and other green spaces
  • Other recreational area maintenance, such as sports facilities and bike paths

Waterway maintenance

The Baltic Sea and Gulf of Finland are one of the shallowest and rockiest sea areas in the world, while Finland’s largest lake, Saimaa, holds more islands than any other lake (well over 17,000). Navigating these waters requires an extensive network of maritime safety devices, which our experts install, monitor and maintain. Alike land-based infrastructure maintenance, this happens under fixed-term general contracts, mainly for the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency.

We currently maintain, install and monitor the condition of about 60% of buoys, range boards, cairns and other sea marks on Finland’s coastal and inland waterways. Traditionally maritime safety devices are manually inspected each year, however, in early 2025 we launched a digital remote monitoring service keeping track of sea mark placement and condition. This allows more efficient, real-time and sustainable servicing.

Our customers

City of Rovaniemi

The city of Rovaniemi, “the Arctic capital”, first outsourced their infrastructure maintenance operations to Alltime in 2019 on a 5-year fixed contract. Alltime was chosen to continue street maintenance in 2024 and green areas in 2025.

Finavia, Helsinki Airport

Alltime is Finavia’s long-time partner in servicing outdoor areas of the Helsinki Airport. There our job is to ensure smooth arrival and departure to over 1 million passengers per month, while supporting our customer’s safety and sustainability ambitions.

Metropolitan Area Transport Ltd

Metropolitan Area Transport Ltd, responsible for public transportation in the Helsinki region, chose Alltime as its partner for outside maintenance in metro stations, bus terminals and vehicle yards. Environmental sustainability was part of the decision-making criteria.
